This stage allows you to obtain the Compostela in just a few days, without giving up the essence of the Camino.
To complete the required 100 km, it is necessary to walk the two branches that follow the estuary:
from Muros along the northern shore and from Porto do Son along the southern side, until they meet in the historic town of Noia,
the joining point before the final ascent towards Santiago de Compostela.
Between the coast and the inland landscape, a Camino
short, symbolic and full of history
What you will experience between Muros and Santiago de Compostela is a journey short in kilometres, but immense in nuances. A Camino that links the sea with the inland landscape, salt with incense, seafaring stone with sacred stone.
From the historic harbour of Muros, you will set out along the estuary, among boats, Baroque churches and cobbled streets that still preserve their seafaring pulse. The route is divided into two shores: one rises along the northern coast, the other along the southern side from Porto do Son; both converge in Noia, a quiet Gothic town where stone tells centuries of stories and legends.
Along the way, you will discover hidden treasures such as the medieval bridge of Ponte Nafonso over the Tambre, the Monastery of Toxosoutos and the San Xusto Waterfall, where the water seems to bless the walker.
It is a serene route, full of symbols and natural beauty, ideal for those seeking a genuine experience in just a few days, without giving up the spiritual depth and emotion of the Camino.
Suggested stages
Complete route along the Muros-Noia Estuary. To obtain the Compostela, it is necessary to walk both branches as far as Noia.
1. Muros → O Cruceiro de Roo · 24.4 km ● 6h 00′
An old royal road along the middle slope of the estuary, with constant views of the Atlantic and passage through small seafaring villages.
2. O Cruceiro de Roo → Noia · 18.4 km ● 4h 45′
An inland path through forests and villages. Crossing Ponte Nafonso over the Tambre and entering Noia. Optional coastal variant via A Barquiña.
3. Porto do Son → Noia · 17.3 km ● 4h 15′
A complementary branch by the sea, with a stop in Portosín and views of Monte Louro. Recommended to reach the 100 km required for the Compostela.
4. Noia → Urdilde · 18.6 km ● 4h 45′
Sections of the old royal road, with an essential stop at the Monastery of Toxosoutos and the San Xusto Waterfall. Nature and spirituality intertwine.
5. Urdilde → Santiago de Compostela · 17.8 km ● 4h 30′
Descent through A Maía and passage through Bertamiráns. Final entrance into Santiago along the same route used on departure. The circle closes: every ending is a new beginning.
Walking along the estuary means returning to Santiago from the sea:
a complete journey through water, stone and memory.
